Summer Offerings at PRT

Back-to-School Study Skills Crash Course
 
  • For 7th through 10th graders

  • Small group (6 student maximum)

  • 9:00 am to 11:00 am, August 15th to 18th (M to Th, 4 day intensive)

 

Once a core component of many school classrooms, students have not been explicitly taught study skills for many years. We will be working on Goal Setting, Time Management, Study Tools and Effective study methods. Catch them when the new school year is fresh on the horizon and be ready for 2023-2024! 

MATH PREP COURSES
  • Algebra 1 Prep (8th/9th grade)
    • Class: Tuesdays 2:30 to 4:00 p.m.
    • Office Hours (Zoom): Thursdays 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.
  • Algebra 2 Prep (10th/11th grade - After Geometry)
    • Class: Wednesdays 3:00 to 4:45 p.m.
    • Office Hours (Zoom): Thursdays 3 to 4 p.m.

​Our Math Prep classes for Summer include Algebra Prep and Algebra 2 Prep. They are designed to refresh concepts as well as to teach missed areas of math that were not addressed during the past few years. Students will avoid summer slide and be ready to hit the ground running in fall.

These programs meet in-person in Georgetown (161 West Main Street, Lower Level) and/or virtually, for 5 weeks.

The program takes place starting the week of July 18th through Mid-August.

Foundational Writing 

  • For 7th through 10th graders

  • Class: Tuesdays 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

  • Office Hours (Zoom): Thursdays 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Our Foundational Writing class for Summer is geared toward reluctant writers and those looking to improve the overall critical writing skills. The course is designed to get students planning, writing and editing their own pieces as well as to have them understand how to use a mentor text and how to be a great peer editor. By the end of the course, students will be better prepared to tackle writing assignments in school and in the future.

These programs meet in-person in Georgetown (161 West Main Street, Lower Level) and/or virtually, for 5 weeks.

The program takes place starting the week of July 18th through Mid-August.

SAT PREP COURSES (12 Hours)

  • Rising Juniors/Seniors will focus on Test Taking Approach as well as zeroing in on Academic Skills review in Reading, Writing and Math.
